Every Attack On Rojava Is An Attack Against Humanity
In a written statement the KJK highlighted that the attacks against the forces who defeated ISIS is a threat to the world.
First of all, we commemorate all the martyrs of the revolution, particularly the identities of those who have recently been disclosed, and extend our condolences to their precious families. As honorable children of humanity, they waged a great struggle to realize the ideal of a free life and became immortal. We call on all humanity, particularly the people of Rojava, their families and comrades, to uphold the values created by our fighters for a dignified life and freedom, and to participate in building a democratic and free society as a fulfilment of their commitment to the martyrs’ memory.
The Kurdish people have waged a magnificent struggle and resistance, paying a heavy price against the policies of occupation and genocide in Kurdistan. This struggle, which we have carried out under women’s leadership, has brought about social change and revolutions. The Rojava Women’s Revolution emerged as the culmination and highest expression of the accumulated experience and legacy of our 53-year struggle and the entire history of women’s struggle. In the fight against ISIS mercenaries, freedom fighters led by Kurdish women rewrote history in favor of the peoples in golden letters, proving that an alternative way of life is possible and becoming a source of hope for the world.
The policies and threat of genocide against the people and women of Rojava, who embody the conscience, dreams and hopes of all honorable humanity, continue. The attacks that began in Heleb (Aleppo) and continued in Kobane and Heseke target the values of freedom and democracy created under women’s leadership. These attacks also target the process initiated by Leader Ocalan with his 27 February 2025 ‘Call for Peace and a Democratic Society’, as well as an alternative for the coexistence among the peoples of Rojava.
The ancient peoples of Syria are not responsible for these ongoing attacks against the values, symbols and institutions created through the common struggle and immense sacrifices of the peoples of Rojava, or against our patriotic people. The responsibility lies with the Damascus government itself, its collaborators and its mercenaries. International powers and the Turkish state, which support or fail to prevent policies of aggression against the different communities, peoples, cultures and faiths that make up Syria, bear equal responsibility. These attacks cannot be considered independently of international policies. If they continue, all countries and peoples of the region, particularly the peoples of Syria, will suffer. The attacks being carried out against the Kurdish people and the oppressed in Rojava and Syria, the abduction of people and their killing when ransoms are not paid, the attacks on institutions established through the efforts of our great martyrs, and the targeting of our values all represent an insistence on war and the continuation of genocidal policies. They seek to occupy cities through provocations, conspiracies and methods of special and psychological warfare, creating the conditions to achieve what they could not accomplish through open military occupation. The disgraceful attacks carried out for days against the values of the Kurdish people, particularly in Heseke, constitute a clear provocation and a policy aimed at removing Kurds from the region. It must be understood that those who seek to exploit the struggle of the people and women of Rojava, based on the perspective of coexistence and a Democratic Syria, and their approach of establishing democratic relations with the Syrian state for their own genocidal and liquidationist objectives will be defeated.
No historical community or anyone seeking a dignified life can remain without a response to attacks against their existence, identity and values. As demonstrated previously by the resistance in Kobane and at the Tishrin Dam, resistance, the spirit of democratic unity among peoples and the struggle for a free life waged by women under the leadership of the Arins and Denizes, symbolised by their braids, will prevail. On this basis, all our people and women in Rojava face a historic responsibility to protect and defend their existence, freedom and democratic social system, and to sustain their struggle against attacks with the determination of a general mobilization. The people and women of Rojava will defeat the conspiracy by developing social resistance and building a democratic society in the face of attacks against a people’s identity, values, existence and social fabric, and against a mentality and policies that would restrict even the use of their mother tongue to three hours.
Everyone knows that every attack on Rojava is an attack on all Kurds, Kurdish women and humanity as a whole. In the face of these attacks against Kurdish existence, Bakur (North Kurdistan), Bashur (South Kurdistan) and Rojhilat (East Kurdistan) face the responsibility of defeating this conspiracy being carried out against Rojava as part of an international strategy. Today is a day for Kurds to strengthen democratic Kurdish national unity around Rojava and intensify their struggle. Kurdish women in Kurdistan and wherever they live must defend the Rojava Women’s Revolution with the spirit of mobilization and proclaim the spirit of national unity through joint actions and activities in public spaces.
We call on democratic social movements seeking an alternative way of life, and on all conscientious and honorable people, to stand against these male-dominated, sexist and nationalist policies that oppose women and freedom. We call on them to prevent the massacre of Kurds that has been rehearsed in recent days in Rojava, particularly in Heseke, to defend the revolution of humanity that has taken place there, and to amplify the voice of the people of Rojava internationally.
